Based on these possible situations, the gear material is required to have high bending fatigue strength and contact fatigue strength, the tooth surface must have sufficient hardness and wear resistance, and the core of the tooth must have certain strength and toughness.
At the same time, because the small gear is subjected to load more times than the large gear, and the small gear tooth root is thinner and the strength is lower than that of the large gear, it is also necessary to ensure that the hardness of the tooth surface of the small gear is 30-50HBS higher than that of the tooth surface of the large gear.

The manufacturing of gears requires several processes such as forging, cutting and heat treatment, so special attention should be paid to the technological performance of gear materials when selecting materials.
