In the structure of the planetary gear reducer, the combination of gears, shafts, and bearings are the main structural components of the planetary reducer and the main body of the planetary reducer, which plays a significant role in the planetary gear reducer.
However, in addition to these main structural components, the planetary gear reducer also has many accessories, which also play key roles in ensuring the normal operation of the reducer.
So, what are the main accessories of the gear reducer? What role do these reducer accessories play?
(1) What are the main accessories of the gear reducer?
In the design and use of gear reducer equipment, different types of accessories play an indispensable role.
To ensure the normal operation of the gear reducer, in addition to paying enough attention to the structural design of the gear, shaft, bearing combination, and box body, it is also necessary to consider the reasonable selection and design of auxiliary parts and components such as filling and draining the reducer lubricating oil pool, checking the oil level, and accurately positioning the box cover and box seat during processing, disassembly and maintenance, and hoisting.
Common gear reducer accessories mainly include a breather cover, reducer cover, locating pin, oil level indicator, screw plug, box opening screw, and sleeve.
(2) What role do the accessories play when the gear reducer is working?
The breather hood is mainly used to help solve the problem of free discharge of air in the box when the working temperature of the reducer rises. The breather hood can keep the pressure inside and outside the box equal so that the lubricating oil will not overflow along the dividing surface or other gaps such as the seals at the end cover; the reducer cover is mainly used to fix the axial position of the bearing on the shaft and bear the axial load, and can be used to seal the two ends of the bearing seat hole; the locating pin is used to ensure that the accuracy of the bearing seat hole manufacturing and processing can be maintained when the box is disassembled and assembled.
Generally, an oil level indicator is installed in a position of the box body that is easy to observe and where the oil level is relatively stable. The height of the oil level in the oil pool in the gear reducer can be checked to maintain a proper amount of lubricating oil in the oil pool. An oil drain hole is generally provided at the lowest position of the oil pool at the bottom of the lower box body of the gear reducer to discharge dirty oil and clean, and the screw plug is a tool usually used to fix the oil hole.
The opening screws are mainly used to enhance the sealing effect. At the same time, to ensure that the water glass or sealant applied on the box surface is easy to open, a flat-end screw is screwed into the appropriate position of the upper box connecting flange.
(3) What aspects should be taken into consideration when designing and selecting the gear reducer accessories?
The bearing caps of gear reducers are of two types: flanged and embedded. They are usually fixed to the housing with hexagonal bolts. The bearing caps at the extended shaft are through holes with sealing devices installed in them. The advantage of flanged bearing caps is that it is easy to disassemble and adjust, but compared with embedded bearing caps, there are more parts, are larger, and have an uneven appearance.
To ensure that the accuracy of the bearing seat hole manufacturing is maintained every time the case cover is disassembled and assembled, the locating pins should be installed on the connecting flange of the case cover and the case seat before the bearing hole is finely machined.
When changing the oil, drain the oil plug discharge the dirty oil, and clean it. An oil drain hole should be opened at the bottom of the box seat, at the lowest position of the oil pool. Normally, the oil drain hole should be blocked with a screw plug. A leak-proof gasket should be added between the oil drain plug and the joint surface of the box body.
When screwing in the box opening screws, two screw holes are often processed at the appropriate position of the box cover connecting flange, and the cylindrical end or flat end of the box opening screws are screwed in. The upper box cover can be lifted by rotating the box opening screws.
If the gear is the “heart” of the gear reducer, then these accessories are the “nerve endings” of the reducer, ensuring the normal operation of the gear reducer and playing a role in the reducer that cannot be underestimated. (Author: SGR, Angie Zhang)
