See DetailsGear reducers are the most common and widely used type of reducers, suitable for reduction transmission needs in a variety of working conditions and environments.
Gear reducers usually generate a certain degree of noise during operation. When the noise is too loud, it will not only have a negative impact on the entire working environment, but also affect the performance and service life of the mechanical equipment. Reducing excessive noise and ensuring trouble-free operation of the gear reducer is the prerequisite for ensuring transmission quality.
Generally speaking, different noises have different sources. To reduce excessive noise, you need to understand the source of the gear reducer noise, and understand how to deal with noise from different sources, and perform targeted noise reduction to improve the performance of the equipment and user experience.
a. Improper lubrication: When the gear reducer lacks sufficient lubrication or uses an inappropriate lubricant, it will increase the friction and wear of the gear reducer, resulting in increased noise levels.
b. Damage to transmission components: During the installation of the gear reducer, if the axis is not aligned or the fixation is unstable, it will cause increased vibration and noise; if the transmission components are damaged due to improper operation, it is likely to cause inaccurate or unstable movement of the gear reducer. High-speed moving parts may also be damaged by the oil film of the gear reducer, resulting in unbalanced operation, thus generating vibration and noise.
c. Loose components of the reduction motor: When the gear reducer is connected to the motor, due to the looseness of various components (such as bearing preload mechanism, shaft positioning mechanism, etc.), incorrect system positioning, abnormal position engagement, and shaft system movement, noise of the gear reducer will also be generated.
d. Design defects or improper maintenance: Poor design or poor manufacturing quality of gear reducers can lead to excessively high noise levels. In addition, during the operation of the gear reducer, if there is a lack of regular maintenance and care, the internal parts of the gear reducer will be severely worn, which will cause noise problems.
a. Check the lubrication of the gear reducer regularly to ensure that the lubricating oil is sufficient and meets the requirements. If insufficient lubrication or contamination is found, replace the lubricating oil of the gear reducer.
b. Check the installation of the gear reducer to ensure that the axis is aligned and firmly fixed to avoid vibration and noise caused by poor installation; during the installation process, attention should also be paid to ensure the integrity of all parts of the gear reducer. Damaged parts that cannot be repaired must be replaced to ensure a stable and normal noise level; in addition, when installing the gear reducer, the installation process should be improved, tools should be added, and the overall quality of the assembly personnel should be ensured.
c. When the gear reducer is connected to the motor, the design structure should be considered to ensure the stability of the connection of various mechanisms as much as possible, and multiple connection methods should be used to reduce noise.
d. Before purchasing a gear reducer, the design and manufacturing quality of the gear reducer should be comprehensively evaluated, and during the trial operation phase of the gear reducer, the noise level changes should be monitored in real time.
In general, excessive noise levels are an indicator of problems with the gear reducer, which need to be checked and addressed step by step to avoid causing further damage and affecting the normal operation of the equipment.
If the above methods can’t solve the excessive noise from the gear reducer, it is recommended that you seek help from the gear reducer manufacturer SGR and rely on professional equipment to perform diagnosis and solve the problem of excessive noise.(Author: SGR, Angie Zhang)
